INGREDIENTS
INSTRUCTIONS
Wild rice: ¾ cup
Butter or olive oil: 2 tbsp
Onion: 1 small, diced
Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
Carrots: 2, diced
Celery: 2 stalks, diced
Chicken or vegetable broth: 5 cups
Milk or cream: 1 cup
Flour: 2 tbsp (for thickening)
Salt: to taste
Black pepper: to taste
Optional:
Cooked chicken: 1–2 cups
Fresh herbs (thyme or parsley): garnish
1. Cook the rice
Cook wild rice separately according to package instructions.
2. Build base
In a pot, melt butter and sauté onion, carrots, and celery until softened.
3. Add garlic
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
4. Add broth
Pour in broth and simmer 10–15 minutes.
5. Thicken
Stir in flour (or make a quick slurry) and mix until slightly thickened.
6. Finish
Add cooked rice and milk/cream.
Stir and season to taste.
7. Serve
Serve warm, optionally topped with herbs.
NOTES
Cook rice separately for best texture
Add chicken for extra protein
Use cream for richness, milk for lighter version
