Olive oil or butter: 1 tablespoon

Garlic: 2 cloves, minced

Cumin: 1/2 teaspoon

  1. Heat oil or butter in a pan over medium heat.

  2. Add garlic and cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).

  3. Add cumin and stir briefly to toast the spice.

  4. Add beans and water or broth.

  5. Stir and let simmer for 5–10 minutes until warmed through and slightly thickened.

  6. Season with salt and pepper.

NOTES

  • Don’t skip the liquid—it helps create a light sauce.

  • Mash a few beans in the pan for a creamier texture.

  • Add onion or chili flakes for extra depth.

  • Works with any bean you have on hand.

  • Great for meal prep and reheats well.
