Cooked rice (or uncooked rice): 1 cup cooked (or 1/2 cup uncooked)
Water or broth: 2–3 cups
Turmeric: 1/2 teaspoon
Garlic (optional): 1 clove, minced
Ginger (optional): 1 teaspoon, grated
Salt: to taste
Black pepper: pinch
Olive oil or butter: 1 teaspoon
Lemon (optional): small squeeze
Fresh herbs (optional): for topping
In a pot, add rice and water or broth.
Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to a simmer.
Add turmeric, garlic, and ginger (if using).
Stir and let cook for 15–20 minutes, until the mixture becomes soft and porridge-like.
Add more liquid if needed for your desired consistency.
Stir in olive oil or butter.
Season with salt and black pepper.
Finish with a squeeze of lemon and fresh herbs if desired.
Serve warm.
NOTES
Use leftover rice to make this even faster.
Add more liquid for a thinner, soup-like texture.
