A simple crusty white bread that is so easy to make and so delicious in the bread maker that it makes life better.

INGREDIENTS
INSTRUCTIONS
Water: 1 ⅛ cups (270 g)
Olive oil: optional, 1 tbsp (adds a softer interior; skip if you want max chew)
Bread flour: 3 cups
Salt: 1 ½ teaspoons
Sugar: 1 teaspoon (just to help the yeast activate — not sweet)
Yeast (active dry or bread machine): 1 teaspoon
Order for a bread machine:
Water
Oil (if using)
Flour
Salt + sugar (on opposite sides of the bucket)
Make a little well in the flour
Add the yeast into that well
Then:
Use the French setting.
Turn crust color to DARK if your machine allows.
Hit start.
Walk away. Let magic happen.
NOTES
MAKE SURE TO MAKE THE WELL WHERE THE YEAST GOES IN SO IT GETS INCORPORATED WELL AND USE ROOM TEMP WATER!
